Military Discharge (Form DD-214)
After discharge, the veteran should place their military discharge (Form DD-214) on file with the County Clerk. The record is confidential record and may only be released to the veteran, a person with the veteran's permission, the surviving heirs of the veteran (documentation required), and a veteran's service officer. Valid picture identification is required.
Send a Written Request
Mail a written request that includes the full names of the individual. The cost of a photocopy is $1 per page. Please include a check or money order made payable to the Jackson County Clerk's Office, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return.
You may also email your written request to clerkvital@mijackson.org please include your address to send the record as well as your phone number so a clerk can call you for payment information. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover are accepted. Enhanced Access Fees apply.
Veteran Identification Card
A veteran is an individual who served in the United States Armed Forces, and was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. A veteran qualifies for a free veteran ID card by filing their DD-214 with the County Clerk.
