Acting Lieutenant Diane Ashby began her career in law enforcement in 2015 with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. Throughout her tenure, she has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to professional excellence, operational effectiveness, and organizational leadership.
Over the course of her career, Acting Lieutenant Ashby has served in several critical capacities, including LEIN Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC), Field Training Officer (FTO), and Transport Deputy. In these roles, she was responsible for regulatory compliance and personnel development while mentoring and training new deputies to uphold departmental standards and best practices.
Promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2022, she assumed supervisory oversight of correctional personnel and daily operations, emphasizing accountability, team development, and mission-focused leadership. In 2023, she completed the National Corrections Supervisor Certification Training through the National Institute of Jail Operations (NIJO), reinforcing her expertise in correctional leadership and constitutional detention practices. That same year, she was honored as Supervisor of the Year in recognition of her outstanding leadership, professionalism, and service.
In 2025, she was promoted to Acting Lieutenant, where she continues to provide strategic oversight, operational guidance, and leadership development within the organization. Acting Lieutenant Ashby is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Administration to further enhance her knowledge in organizational management, leadership theory, and strategic planning.
She remains committed to advancing the mission of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department through integrity, accountability, and service to the community.
