Volunteers have the opportunity to provide well-being for our animals which includes, but is not limited to, walking dogs, socializing cats, play time and grooming both cats and dogs, making sure all animals have adequate food, water, treats and toys, and the option of assisting with cleaning, laundry and dishes. You can also volunteer to help at off- site adoptions, events held at JCAS and in the community, fostering and so much more!
Volunteers and community members enrich the lives of the animals of Jackson County and help these animals have the best opportunity for a second chance at love!
JCAS offers Saturday group orientations (not held regularly/monthly in the Spring and Summer) and daily private and small group orientations! All orientations begin in the main lobby of the Animal Shelter at 3370 Spring Arbor Rd, Jackson, MI 49203.
If you are interested in volunteering please stop in to the Animal Shelter to fill out our application, sign that you’ve read the volunteer rules ( Volunteer Application (PDF) ) and set up a private or small group orientation with our Community Outreach Coordinator. We work around your schedule and try to fit you in for an orientation in a timely manner and one which works with your needs and passion!
*All volunteers must abide by the Jackson County Animal Shelter rules and regulations and are subject to termination for any reasons deemed necessary to uphold our County values.
