Medical Waste / Prescription Disposal

Many counties and local law enforcement agencies offer drop boxes to help residents properly and safely dispose of unwanted, unused and expired medicines. These programs typically accept all types of medicines from households including prescription, over-the-counter and pet medicines.

Proper Disposal

Dispose of your medications properly to prevent abuse or poisoning and to protect the environment. Prescription drug abuse is a growing problem, especially among teens, and accidental poisonings from medicines are on the rise. Medicines should not be flushed down drains or thrown in the garbage as they can pollute bodies of water, harm wildlife and contaminate drinking water supplies.
