The Information Technology Department is an internal service organization which is responsible for maintaining, securing, and enhancing technology and communications for County departments and agencies. Services include the County web site, database administration, systems administration, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) implementation and support, software analysis and development, data center operations, 911 call center support, geographic information systems, network connectivity, VOIP (voice-over-internet-protocol), wireless communications, and desktop support.
The Department’s new website offers the public electronic access to County information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Through the website, citizens can apply for employment, send e-mail to elected officials and County staff, pay for select services, report problems, obtain County reports and publications, crime statistics, subscribe to RSS feeds and newsletters, and (in the near future) take virtual tours of County facilities. Additional enhancements, including a smartphone app, will be added in the next few months.
