To ensure children are healthy and ready to start their first year of school, the State of Michigan has established an Oral Health Kindergarten Assessment Program. The program was created as part of Public Act 261 of 2020. In addition to a required hearing and vision screening, a child is to have a dental assessment completed before starting school. The Jackson County Health Department has partnered with Smiles on Wheels to assist parents in meeting this requirement. To find out how to schedule an assessment contact Smiles on Wheels.
