Norvell Road is slated to begin Monday, April 15, 2019. The project involves crushing and shaping the base, trimming and removing trees, widening shoulders, new ditches, driveway culverts, and 5 inches of hot-mix asphalt paved in 3 layers of 2”, 1.5”, and 1.5”.
Norvell Rd. will be closed to through traffic for the duration of this project with completion anticipated in mid-November. Local traffic access for residents will be maintained during the project. The posted detour route will be along Michigan Ave., Wolf Lake Road, and Phal Road.
This project is made possible in large part by a grant from the State Transportation Local (STL) Federal Program administered by the Michigan Department of Transportation. The grant provides $1.26 million of the total cost of $2.97 million, and the remaining funds will be provided by JCDOT as approved by the County Board of Commissioners.
Norvell Road is a 6.2 mile-long project being completed in two phases. The first phase of the project will begin April 15th between Michigan Avenue and Phal Road and is scheduled to be completed in July. The second phase will begin in July from Phal Road to Sharon Valley Road and is scheduled to be completed mid-Nov.
